Executive Director's Update

                                                 Fall 2010

Welcome to the Open Arms Ministries website! I you enjoy your visit.

I would first like to tell you what we have been doing this past year. Open Arms has been collaborating with several community agencies including the Lincoln County Family Resource Network and the Lincoln County Youth and Prevention Coalition. We have also recently established a relationship with Hospice of Huntington. Several of our ministers will be serving in Lincoln County and we will be hosting Hospice grief support groups at Center Point Church in the Spring of 2011. We have distributed many different items to the community over the course of the summer including clothing and furniture. Our HOPE program has also completed several projects to benefit members of the community as well. This fall, we will be hosting a Prescription Drug Abuse forum at Center Point Church.

Open Arms Ministries is finally getting off the ground this fall. All of our hard work is going to pay off as we get started with our programs. In this update, I will give a detailed plan of the next phase in this ministry.

Our office will be completely open by the end of September. Beginning in October, we will begin offering seminars at the office. The first will be an informational meeting about Celebrate Recovery. We will also offer our first Fireproof Your Marriage course and our first Crown Financial Ministries course in October. We will beging forming our first Celebrate Recovery groups in November. We will start with one group and then will form a second group by the end of 2010.

Depending on funding, renovations will begin this fall on the space that will host the community and youth center. Again, depending on funding and construction times, we hope to be finished with renovations by the end of 2010. As construction starts, I will establish a blog on this website to keep you updated on our progress.

Our HOPE program will continue to operate as it has been for the past few months.

Our Fresh Foods program, which will include a community farmers market and community garden, will start in the spring of 2011. Later in 2011, we plan to sponsor several community wide health and wellness events.
More information will be released closer to the start date.

Open Arms has established office hours for the Fall of 2010. See my blog for the hours.

This is a very exciting time for myself and the Ministry. Working together, I know we can accomplish great things!
